Steps for an easy mini slimline card

Hello crafty friends! Martha Lucia here, to share some steps to create an easy Mini Slimline Card. Today I am featuring the Refresh the Soul Digital Stamps from our Springish Fiesta Collection.

I said easy card but it does not mean that you don’t have to use your creativity. In reality, it is easy because you can plan all the pieces in advance. Then, you only need to assemble and personalize the end.

I love the mini slimline and slimline dies and Joy Clair Designs have a great collection and designs HERE. And, when I have time, I die cut some pieces using my favorite colors of cardstock. This is the first step  to be prepared.

Then, like I love white cards, I created card bases in different sizes. For mini slimline, I used 6.5″x7″ with score in 3.5″ and for slimline 8.5 x 7″ with score in 3.5″. Both scores are on the 7″ side.

Many companies are offering embossing folders for slimline sizes, you can also prepare in advance some additional pieces with your favorite designs and colors.

On this card for example, I am using white smooth cardstock to create the card base and third layer. Also to print my stamps.    For the second layer, I used the large size of the Delighted Lace Rectangle Mini Slimline Dies. This beautiful design is also available in regular slimline format. Additionally, for the third layer, that is the embossed layer, I used the Thatched slimline embossing folder.

This simple decorated card base can be used for any occasions card. Mine is a birthday card that features the cute bird included on the Refresh the Soul Digital Stamps and one of the sentiments, also included in the same digital stamps.

To add more interest to my card, I die cut the sentiment using a cloud die from the He is Risen Dies. In addition, I used the die shape as stencil  to give a little color to the cloud.

I used TriBlend Markers from Spectrum Noir to color the bird. The colors of markers that I used were Green Turquoise Blend, Citrus Yellow ( the light color CT1) , Vintage Blue Blend and Alpine Green Blend.

To paste the different layers and details of the card, I prefer to use E-Z Runner Tape, Glue Pen Dual Tip (my favorite liquid glue) and Crafty foam tape. This tape also come in strips, and in the case of the slimline cards it is more easy.

Finally, if you have all prepared in advance or if you make all just at the moment that you need this is an easy mini slimline card. However, if you print your stamps in advance and colored them in your own time, the work can easier!

I hope these tips help you to enjoy more your crafty time and don’t feel overwhelm when you need to create a card at the last minute or when you simply want to enjoy your crafty moment.
