Today’s card was inspired by Joy Clair Designs’s October Mood Board. Each month fellow Design Team Member, Crystal Komara, will have a new board to inspire you. I immediately was drawn to the buffalo check pattern on this board – one of my favs. I knew I wanted to incorporate that pattern directly into my card somehow. But meanwhile . . . today’s card features the Joy Clair Designs  Hey Pumpkin clear stamp set. This 4″ x 6″ set includes a large image with three pumpkins and flowers, plus one Bible verse and four sentiments for fall and Thanksgiving cards.

Card Details:

  1. Created an A2 card base and added a black layer of cardstock over it.
  2. Stamped the pumpkin image and the “Thanks” sentiment on white smooth card stock .
  3. Masked both the pumpkin image and the sentiment before applying Distress Oxide Ink in “Scattered Straw” through a gingham plaid stencil over the the white cardstock.

  4. Removed the 2 masks and then using the October Mood Board as my inspiration, colored all put the pumpkin on the right side using my Copic markers.Here’s where the paper piecing comes in…
  5. Printed the actual October Mood Board out on cardstock and then stamped the pumpkin image again so that the pumpkin on the right was stamped directly on to the buffalo check pattern portion on the printed Mood Board.
  6. Fussy cut the buffalo check pumpkin out and adhered it to the pumpkin on the card front.


  7. Added clear Nuvo “Crystal Glaze” to the berries.
  8. Added 5 gold mini pearl embellishments to the center of the sunflower for a finishing touch.
