Easy Backgrounds with Sentiment Stamps

Almost all of the Joy Clair stamp sets include amazing sentiments. But aside from just using those sentiments to add to your finished card, you can also get a little creative with them! I love creating quick and easy backgrounds with sentiment stamps! Be sure to watch the video tutorial below for all the details!

Making the Sentiment Backgrounds

Faith Sentiment Background

The large Faith sentiment from the Saved by Grace stamp set was perfect for creating this bright, colorful, and easy sentiment background!

This first handmade card is so bright and colorful! I used the large “Saved by Grace” stamp set for the majority of this card. So I started by stamping the large rectangle “Faith” sentiment onto an A2 white cardstock panel in a rainbow pattern. Normally, I would hand stamp these, but because this is such a solid stamp, I did use my MISTI. It takes a little more time, but it’s well worth it!

This bright stamped bouquet was a breeze to put together with the help of press 'n seal. Be sure to watch the video tutorial to see how easy this was to arrange!

To finish this handmade greeting card, I stamped several of the flowers and leaves in the Saved by Grace stamp set. After ink blending some color onto each one and fussy cutting, I arranged the images into a bouquet on the front of the card. Finally, I added a simple sentiment from the Heir of God stamp set.

Cluster Sentiment Backgrounds

Cluster sentiment stamps are a great way to make a sentiment background quickly! I used one of those clusters from the Proverbs 31 stamp set to make this super quick sentiment background for the bottom of my handmade greeting card.

This sentiment background was the easiest to make thanks to help of the Proverbs 31 stamp set. In that stamp set there is a large cluster of words already put together. What I did was just stamp that stamp repeatedly onto cardstock. It was that simple!

This card looks complicated but it is so simple. It is two sentiment stamps and one image!

The rest of this card was finished with the Proverbs 31 stamp set, too. I love when I only need one set to complete an entire card and the only “extra” I used was a stencil to add a little interest behind my stamped image. So this card was really very simple to create!

Angled Sentiment Background

Creating angled sentiment background is easy with the help of Creative Corners in your MISTI. For this background, I used the Fruit of the Spirit stamp set and arranged the sentiments at an angle in my MISTI. Then, I stamped them repeatedly to fill up the background.

When I create a detailed background, I like to cut it up and use it across multiple cards!

To finish this card I continued to use only the Fruit of the Spirit stamp set. After stamping the sentiment background, I created another background directly on the card base by stamping the fruits from the set and coloring them in. Then, I stamped a large verse onto a die cut to finish the card!
