Happy Monday! Priscilla here from Nubble Light Designs. Today’s card for the Joy Clair Blog is a mini slimline card that will let a friend know you are thinking about them. We all need a hug once in a while . . . and sometimes even one from a prickly cactus will do!

I used Joy Clair’s Prickly Happy stamp set to make today’s card.

Card Details:

  • Created a mini slimline card base (approximately 6.25″ x 3.75″) using white smooth card stock.
  • Cut a slightly smaller layer from khaki cardstock and adhered to the card base.
  • Used a mini slimline Diamond Wire & Wood Grain Frame Die and khaki cardstock to create the “fence” top layer.
  • Sponged “Rustic Wilderness” Distress Oxide ink over the this khaki fence frame and then sanded it to create a “weathered” look.
  • Cut another piece of khaki cardstock slightly smaller than the fence frame and sponged  a background using “Ground Espresso” for the grass and “Peeled Paint” Distress Oxide inks for the sky.

  • Adhered this layer behind the green fence frame and then adhered the frame to the front of the card.
  • Stamped the two cacti using “Peeled Paint” and “Scattered Straw” Distress Inks, stamped a face on one, and then stamped the prickly spines around both of them before cutting them out with my Brother “ScanNCut” machine.
  • Adhered both images on top of the fence layer.
  • Stamped the sentiment “Free Hugs” on cardstock inked with “Peeled Paint” Distress Ink and foam mounted to the right of the cacti.
  • Added 3 gold pearls for a finishing touch!
