Hello there, Priscilla here from Nubble Light Designs. Sympathy cards are no doubt everyone’s least favorite cards to make for obvious reasons. I have learned to make them ahead of actually needing them, when I might be feeling a tad more creative rather than trying to design a card when my mood is down. Today I am sharing two new sympathy cards I just added to my inventory in preparation for when a somber occasion may warrant one.

I used floral images from the Joy Clair God Guides Digital stamp collection as the focal point for both cards. This collection features three floral illustrations and four sentiments for multiple occasions.

For my first card, I sized one of the florals on my computer, printed it out, die cut it using my Brother “ScanNCut” machine, and adhered it to a black die cut stitched rectangle.

I created the black “basket weave” textured background using black foil card stock and an embossing folder. Then I used a sand block to create the “worn” appearance. The white heat embossed sentiment. “Sharing in Your Sorrow,” came from my stash as did the silver jewels.

My second card was created in a similar manner; this time using turquoise foil card stock for the background.

Perhaps this blog post will encourage you to create a few sympathy cards, so you too are prepared if an unfortunate occasion occurs.
