Hi Joy Clair Friends, Cathy on the blog today! Have you ever wondered how to add dimension and glittery shine to your digital stamp images? I have a simple solution for you using an a stamp from November’s Merriest Moments Digital Stamp release. When I saw the six images in the This Christmas set, I knew I had to create sparkling poinsettias!
Trying to stretch my coloring skills, the candle image was a perfect place to start!!
Card Steps:
I loved the design of the poinsettia leaves, so I began my card with a circle image and using an “outside of the box” die cutting technique, kept some of the leaves outside of the circle die. This is an oldie, but goodie technique! If you haven’t tried it, I encourage you to give it a whirl!
Next, I colored the candle and poinsettia with Copics. I wanted to keep the poinsettia white, so I just lightly shaded the leaves. You’ll see the blues in them, which compliments the blue I used to shade the green leaves.
Knowing I wanted the white poinsettias to pop, I then masked the image and pulled out my Distress Oxide inks to shade the stitched circle die cut.
I finished off the poinsettia circle by adding splatters of white and brown. Finally, I painted glue on the leaves and sprinkled Distress Rock Candy glitter on top to create sparkling poinsettias!
The sentiment is from the This Christmas set as well. I die cut it, and added it to the card base with three clear drops.
Here is a close-up of the sparkling poinsettias! That’s glitter, not white splatter!
