Good morning, Joy Clair Friends. Cathy on the blog today with an idea for stretching everyday stamps to work for a holiday. I don’t have many Valentine images anymore, so this idea came from a genuine need!
Stretching Everyday Stamp Sets
Today’s card feature’s Joy Clair’s You’re A Gem stamp set. I needed to look through my stash to make a card for Valentine’s Day. When I looked at the variety of images and sentiments included with this set, I thought it would make a great non-traditional looking Valentine card.
Pairing the cut agate slice image and the “rare find” sentiment with a simple Valentine sentiment made the perfect combination! I did an internet search for images of painted agates to guide my coloring. My next decision was what to use for coloring and I traded my Copics in for colored pencils to give a more textured look. Colored pencils also allowed me to add little pops of unexpected colors in a few spots. A little die cutting, framing with patterned paper, and embellishments ensured the agate stayed the visual focus of the card.
