Hello friends, Ericka here and today I’m playing with the Funny Times digital image. This set is great because it has both a balloon image and a fun cat. For today, I’ll be playing with the balloon image and pairing it with a distress oxide background.

Details

I used Word to open up the image and design the layout I wanted. I printed on Bristol Smooth paper because I knew I wanted to use my Karin Brushmarkers with this floral balloon. Once my image was dry, I added a little white gel pen to the flowers for highlights.

After I was done watercoloring the image, I fussy cut out the balloon. I had this background in my stash and thought it would pair perfect with the balloon. I created the background using photo paper and Distress Oxides. I used several colors of oxides and smooshed them on my craft mat and added some water. Then I took the photopaper and dabbed it into the ink. Once all the ink is dry, the distress oxides leave a chalky finish on the paper. Simply wipe it off with a dry cloth to reveal the bright colors.

I attached the balloon to my background with foam tape to finish off my card.
