Hi there, Cathy here with my first DT post. I am thrilled to be part of the talented Joy Clair DT! On todays card, I am working with the  Sending a Little Message Digital stamp set. This sweet vase of wildflower florals are from most recent Joy Clair release.

 Inspiration:

My wildflower floral card was inspired by a flower bouquet. I made this on a recent Friday Night Flower event at a wild flower garden near me.  A Zinnia in the center of my bouquet caught my attention right away because of the amazing colors in one petal. It went from magenta in the center to yellow at the tip. So I knew it had to be the center of my card.

This is a 3-day old photo of my focal flower, but you can still get the gist of its vibrant colors.

A uniquely round shaped leaf in the greenery of my bouquet had burgundy tones at the edges.  It was the idea behind the larger leaves in my card.  You might also notice the similarity between the small white flowers with yellow centers along with the purple flowers in both the bouquet photo and my card!! Nature is amazing and a great source of inspiration!

I modeled my large leaves off of this leaf.

My Card Details:

I started by printing the flower image and sentiment onto kraft colored cardstock.  The ability to adjust sizes of digital images is a benefit, so I print a test run on scrap paper and adjust sizes before I do a final print.  It also gives me an extra image or two to “practice” coloring or shading.  I colored this card with Prismacolor Premier pencils.  My blender pencil always comes in handy!

Bringing white into cards when coloring on kraft helps brighten them up.  I did that in two ways – the white splatter (along with some pinks, turquoise, and brown) and using a white die cut frame.

Here is a close up of my flowers.

My card is finished with a second frame from turquoise patterned paper to tie into the color on the vase, a few embellishments, a sentiment flag (popped up with foam strips), and a purple bow.

Thanks for taking a peek at my card.  You can also find me in Instagram, FB, and my blog.  See you on the 9th for my next post, which uses the September Mood Board as inspiration!

Hope you are able to make time to be creative this week – Cathy
