Hi Friends! It’s Susan from Creating with Susan and I’m back with a winter themed card for you today. We’ve had such a cold spell the last few days that I was starting to feel like I was living with these penguins. It warmed up a little today to -15C so I got outside to shovel and play with the dog a little. Then right back inside to make a big cuppa chai and warm up.

I printed the penguins onto some mixed media paper and colore them in using my Tombow Dual Brush pens, a paint brush and some water. After I colored it all in I added some color to the sky but wasn’t happy with how it looked so I pulled out a blue and a black distress ink and blended the sky to be darker. I really like how this turned out as it left a little halo of light around the birds. A happy accident. I added some snow with a Posca paint pen, a sentiment using a die and adhered it to some grey patterned paper and then to a card base using craft foam.

This is one of those cards that I wasn’t liking how it was going but decided to stick with it and in the end, I really like how it turned out.  If you ever find yourself wanting to trash a project, walk away from it for a while and when you come back have another go at it. You may just end up loving it.

Thanks so much for spending a part of your day with me.

Take care,
Susan
