Welcome Crafty Friends! It’s Tia here from RockyMtnCraftia.com and I’ve got a secret to share with you…I believe in Santa! Well, the fun loving spirit of giving and goodwill that, that jolly old man inspires. Today I’m sharing some fun, fast, foiled cards that feature Jolly Saint Nick himself! Reminding all of us to BELIEVE!

As the holidays quickly approach many of you are working full steam to get enough cards made for your holiday mailing list. I wanted to share these fun, quick cards featuring Santa from Joy Clair Designs newly released stamp sets: Christmas Cheer and Jingle All The Way.

By combining these two sets with some foiling, a few COPIC markers I was able to create all three cards in roughly 90 minutes! So, I’m fairly new to foiling. But my fellow design team artist Cathy Pressing has a great tutorial up on the blog: Foiling with Digital Stamps. It’s sure to help you jump on board with this fun technique!

The Design

An 8 1/2 by 11 in sheet of cardstock will allow you to create 3-slimline cards all at once. I selected Santa for each of my cards and the sentiment ‘Believe’. Next, I added the ‘in the magic’ sentiment and chose to place it in two different places. Carefully, I then cut out thin pieces of Deco foil to cover the words.

You can see (above) that the red foil was too large and got on the end of the ‘Believe’ letters. Next time, I’ll go back into my software and move the words further apart. I used an embossing pen and squiggled some lines. Then covered with snow-embossing powder. I filled in the space with Broken China-Distress Ink. The same COPIC colors were used for each card with very little variation.

For my last Santa card, I flipped the image of Santa to the left side.

There was a lot of white space and I tried to make each card a little different, so here I added holiday ribbon to take up some of the open space. I was really happy that for each card I was able to use scrap pieces of red cardstock to mat with. Also, remnant pieces of 12x12in Christmas paper were used. I didn’t have to cut into a single  sheet of new paper to make these!

Marker Selection

For those of you following me for the first time, I am a select your papers FIRST and color LAST kinda-gal. But I also had a pretty easy theme going on which made selecting markers easy. There is probably only 1 red marker color that separates the three Santas.
