Hello and Merry Christmas to the Joy Clair friends who celebrate Christmas.  Cathy here on the blog with a warm winter thank you card.  They are probably something folks will be thinking about in the coming days!   I live in MN, so there is almost nothing that is warmer than a steaming cup of cocoa with marshmallows floating on top.  That’s the feeling I wanted to evoke with my card.

The hot cocoa colors were a blend of Copic E33 and 35 with E44.  I wanted the marshmallows to look like they had been sloshed around in the cocoa, so I added some E42 to the edges.  The cup is a combination of Y26, 24, 23,  and E44.  The heart is BG 18 and 57 with G18 for depth.  Finally, I came in with a few Prismacolor pencils on top for shading and highlights. You can see from the close up that my blending isn’t the smoothest.  That is because the paper I printed the image on isn’t meant for Copics, but I don’t mind – it kind of gives it a look of hand-thrown pottery!

Card Details:

I used Joy Clair’s Christmas Cocoa Digital Stamp for my card.  It comes with such a variety of images and sentiments which makes it super versatile.  In fact, I used the same set with the mug for a card on the blog earlier this month.  I fussy cut the cup, marshmallows, and one of the sentiments.  To give some extra visual interest, I stenciled Arty Triangles Stencil with white pigment ink behind the cup.  Gina Marie’s Delighted Lace Rectangle Mini Slimline die cut the main panel. Both are available in the Joy Clair Shop.  This card has lots of layers and textures from foiling, and embossing panel, dies, embellishments, and a glittery snowflake.

Adding strips of papers from my scrap drawers helped bring the colors of the card all together.  I hope you are inspired to create some warm winter thank you cards of your own.  Thanks for stopping by the blog.  ~Cathy
