Hello Joy Clair Friends!  Cathy on the blog today with another foiled image.  Earlier in the month, I shared a card using the butterfly image from the My Path Digital Stamp set.

Foiling and Digital Stamps

Today’s card features the same butterfly, but this one is foiled with Turquoise Deco Foil.  Foiling and digital stamps is a simple process.  You need to use toner ink to print the image, Deco Foil in your choice of colors, and heat.  I find a Mini Minc (or Minc) provides the most consistent results because you can adjust the heat.  The fine lines of this butterfly look so beautiful when they are foiled!  You can see other foiled Joy Clair images on the blog – a gold CAS mandala card, a turquoise ink-blended mandala, a gold foiled elegant flower, and a foiled sentiment are just a few.

After I foiled the image, I used small blender brushes to apply the inks.  Once the color was finished, I fussy cut the butterfly and then worked on the card design.

Card Design

To keep the butterfly the focal point on the card, I decided to keep the overall color palette the same but add texture.  Clear embossing powder on a leaf-patterned background stamp brought in some of the dark purple colors from the butterfly.  I mounted a small white embossed rectangle on turquoise paper and used foam dots for the butterfly.  I finished the card with a thin sentiment and three turquoise jewels.  Don’t you agree that the butterfly pops on this card?!?

Thanks for stopping by the Joy Clair blog.  Hope you are inspired to try foiling and digital stamps yourself. ~Cathy
